NEW YORK, NY – Four-Year Old Trinidadian Phoebe Neehall appeared in the bright lights of Broadway on September 20th as part of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) annual Times Square Video Presentation, which promotes the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

The photo of Phoebe, who has Down syndrome, was one of 220 images selected from more than 2,000 world-wide entries. She showcased a vibrant Carnival costume in her photograph which was shown on the News Corporation Sony Screen, located in the heart of Times Square in New York City.

October is International Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

As parents of children with Down syndrome, our responsibility to raise our children to be positive, contributing members of society the same as anyone else’s.

Every day when we read or watch the news and we are concerned about how our children are growing up. The permeating influences of crime, greed, disregard for authority and ignorance affect each one of us. While we can worry and demand our nation’s leaders to help change the trend, we ALL can do something to improve the situation. We can start by improving our home life.

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD – 13 October 2014: The only Buddy Walk® in the Caribbean will take place at Nelson Mandela Park (former King George V Park) in St. Clair, Port of Spain at 2 p.m., on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Approximately 500 people are expected to attend the event, which is one of over 250 walks across the globe to raise awareness and funds for programmes that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families.
